Cameron Dunlop Hall, Jr., 82, of Petersburg, departed this life on December 20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cameron D. Hall, Sr., and Hazel Perkins Hall. He is survived by four first cousins, Robert Van Dyke of Fort Lee, NJ, Lorraine Winfield of Williamsburg, Raymond L. Poarch of Stony Creek, and William S. Poarch of Jarratt; and numerous other cousins, including Michael B. Mayes and R. Sydnor Mayes, both of Dinwiddie County, Patricia Tereschenko of Disputanta, and Gary M. Williams of Waverly; and a very dear friend, Christina Crockett of Atlanta, GA. Born in Paducah, Kentucky on May 27, 1934, he subsequently lived in Wilson, North Carolina before permanently residing in Petersburg, where his paternal ancestors, the Camerons and the Dunlops had lived for generations. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s decrees in English from the University of Richmond and taught English in the public schools of Sussex and Prince George counties and at Brunswick Academy, in all which places he was remembered as an outstanding teacher. He collected and sold antiques, and was active in cultivating antique irises. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, December 26, 2016 in Blandford Cemetery.
