Campbell Joffre McAfee, 96, passed on Monday morning April 30, 2012 at the Health Care Center at Brandermill Woods. He was surrounded by his family as he went to join his beloved Fern who passed in July 1998. Mac was born on November 13, 1915 in Perth, Ontario, Canada the son of Reginald and Minnie Mae York McAfee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern, brothers Reggie and Hawley and two sisters who died in infancy. Mac is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Kent and Denise Zuidema and her husband Frank, 6 grandchildren, Jeff Kent and his wife, Nicole, Jenny Pickett and her husband, Stoney, Michael, Lindsay, Stephanie and David Zuidema. Also the joy of his life in his 90th year was the arrival of his first great grandchild, Xander Kent, followed by Willow Kent, Huck and Mack Pickett. He also leaves his very devoted friend and companion, Jane Nettleton who was a light in his life for the last 14 years. Mac was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and World War II. He retired in the mid-seventies from the Airborne Department at Fort Lee after over 30 years of service. For almost 50 years Mac and Fern served many churches in the tri-city area as organist and choir director for their music programs. A memorial service will be held at Brandermill Clubhouse Chapel at Brandermill Woods Retirement Community on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 4:00 PM.
