Carl Edgar Casey

Carl Edgar Casey was born June 29, 1930, in Glade Spring, Virginia to Bonnie Lee and Joseph Aston Casey. Carl was the oldest of three and had a loving childhood. Later he lived in Dinwiddie, Virginia, where he stayed for 35 years. During that time he worked and eventually retired from Vulcan. He was a member of Dinwiddie County Moose Lodge for 50 years. He spent his retired years in his hometown of Meadowview, enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains and working alongside his faithful niece, Mary Ann in their family business. He enjoyed the company of family and friends every day, spending much time with his great-niece, Johnna Fields (Joey), who was like another granddaughter. He traveled all over the United States and Canada with his sister, Johnsie, taking in the sights and many wonderful trips visiting with his nephew, Steve.

Carl went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2024. He is predeceased by his parents; his brother, James William Casey; sister, Johnsie Miller; brother-in-law, Harve Miller; son, Joseph Casey; and wife, Helen Casey.

He is survived by his children, William Casey, James Casey, Susan Scarpa, David Casey (Sheila), Linda Casey, and Catherine McLaughlin (Butch); niece and honorary daughter, Maryann Bise (Jackie); nephew, Steve Miller (Susan); thirteen grandchildren; and more than thirty great-grandchildren. The love and memories shared by his family will be cherished. In addition to his love of family, he had a love of NASCAR, Bluegrass and Gospel. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie. A funeral service will be held in the chapel, at the funeral home, the following day at 1:00 PM, with interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
