Carlton Lee Suyes, 68, of Hopewell, died Friday, August 20, 2010 in Retreat Hospital in Richmond, VA. Mr. Suyes was born in Hopewell and had been a lifetime resident. He was the son of the late Jennings B. and Birdie L. Blick Suyes. Carlton served in the US Army Reserves, was a former Hooray for Hopewell Board Member, a former member of the Hopewell Jaycees, an honorary member of the Lawnboys and was a self employed Public Accountant for 42 years. He is survived by a son, Jerry L. Suyes and his wife Beckie of Dinwiddie County, three grandchildren, Matthew N. Suyes, Matthew L. Langford, Melanie J. Browning, two great grandchildren, Ethan Browning and Angelina Langford, a brother Melvin Suyes and his wife Margaret of Colonial Heights, and a nephew, Brian Suyes of Chesterfield County. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Wilson, former pastor of West End Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 PM.. Interment will be private.
