Carol Mitchem Lowe

August 24, 1941 — June 1, 2024

Carol Mitchem Lowe, 82, of Hopewell, died June 1, 2024. Born and raised in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Bette Mitchem. Mrs. Lowe worked as an OR Tech for 42 years at John Randolph Hospital (now Tri Cities). After retiring she was able to spend time with her husband, Ed, and her family. In addition to her late parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Carl Edward Lowe; by brothers, Ben David Mitchem, Carl Mitchem, Jr., and Dan Mitchem; and her sister, Virginia Sizemore. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Lowe (Jerry Broughton) and Theresa Lowe Murdock (Ed); son, Robert Lowe (Terah); grandchildren, Andrea Ennis (Christopher), Katherine Dumire (Adam), Rebecca Cox (Andy), Breanna Deruelle (Liam), Brandon Lowe (Martina), and Amanda VanLeuven; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, with the funeral service following at 4:00 pm, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Rocky Shearin officiating. A private burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
