Caroline Jones Wiley, 76, of Petersburg, Virginia died quietly at her home Saturday, August 12, 2006 with her daughter by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Ashton Mann Wiley, Sr.; her son Ashton Mann Wiley, Jr. and a brother Alan Jones. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Kopalchick and her husband Joseph; her sister Eliza McFadden of Arlington, Massachusetts and her dear cat - Rosey. She was born July 21, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest child of the late Harold Andrew and Margaret Rayburn Jones. She attended the College of William and Mary and graduated from Richmond Professional Institute in 1952. After college she worked for a number of years as a buyer for Rucker Rosenstock and several local businesses in marketing. Her true love was her role as wife and mother and caring for others. At an early age, Caroline showed a talent for needlework, which would become a lifelong passion. She mastered the art of crewel embroidery, needlepoint, quilting, cross-stitch, smocking, and knitting. She shared her talents with family and friends and her works are a true treasure. Some of her creative designs are displayed in several local churches. She was a Master Gardener and was instrumental in organizing the local Greater Tomato Contest. An avid reader, a book was a constant companion. She was a dear and loyal friend and will be missed by many. Her family is forever grateful for all of her friends who provided assistance and support during her illness. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 18th at 11am. Internment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA.
