Carolyn Eley Howerton

Carolyn Eley Howerton, 77, of Chester, VA passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Born in Petersburg, VA she was the daughter of the late Cabal Astor and Margaret Grindstead Eley. Carolyn was a longtime member of both Chester Baptist Church and the ASG (American Sewing Guild). She was retired from Colonial Heights Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher with many years of dedicated service to her students. Mrs. Howerton is survived by her husband, Kenneth Childs Howerton; four children, Debra Srock (Fred), Douglas Draper, David Draper (Sandi) and Dwayne Draper; four grandchildren, Michelle Reierson (Matt), Joshua Green, Jacelyn Wellman (Jeremy) and Tabitha Draper; three great-grandchildren, Dillian Wellman, Christopher Wellman and Layla Reierson; and her beloved Wheaton Terrier, Greta. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
