Carter Sr. Burt

Carter Harrison Burt, Sr., 71, of Hopewell, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 in the McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Richmond. He was born in Hopewell and was a life-long resident of this area. Mr. Burt was a retired S/Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Mr. Burt was the son of the late John E. and Mary Harrison Burt, IV. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Burt and a son, Carter H. Burt, Jr. both of Everett, Washington, two brothers, Thomas B. Burt of Enon, C. Douglas Burt of Hopewell, one sister, Evelyn B. Trice of Hanover, two grandchildren, Erica and Christine Burt, several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-8:30 P.M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, with Father Bruce Bevans, Rector, of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating.
