Catherine Dawn Owen

Catherine Dawn Owen, 54, of McKenney, VA passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Cathy had worked as a Deputy Clerk in the office of the Commissioner of Revenue for many years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chester. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, John “Timmy” Owen; two children, Mattie E. Smith and husband, Josh and Andrew J. Owen; two grandsons, Brantly and Casey Smith; her parents, Kenneth and Wanda Pratt; one brother, Richard Pratt and wife, Tina; several nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Bernard Camden, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McKenney Volunteer Fire and EMS, P.O. Box 298, McKenney, VA 23872 in memory of Cathy.
