Charles Benjamin Barfield, Jr., 78, of Dinwiddie County passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005 at his residence. A native of Petersburg, he was the son of the late Charles Benjamin and Irma Spiers Barfield, Sr. He retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and was a World War II and Korean War veteran, first in the United States Navy and then in the United States Army, he was also for many years employed with Pinkerton Security. He was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church, a former Junior Warden and a member of the Vestry, also a member of ESA/Forward in Faith. Surviving is his wife; Bianca Dapretto Barfield, a son; Charles Thomas Barfield of Richmond, VA, sisters; Josephine Barfield Wojcik of New Jersey and Rebecca Barfield Newton of Dinwiddie, a brother; Leo Barfield of Matoaca and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at St. John?s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John?s Episcopal Church, 847 W. Washington St, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
