Charles Linton Benton

March 8, 1941 — February 9, 2019

Charles Linton Benton, 77, of Chester, Va., died February 9, 2019. Born in Hopewell but raised in Chester, he is the son of the late Henry Linton and Onyx Cox Benton. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Joan Ford Benton of Chester; daughters, Melanie Benton Martin of Louisa, Christiana (CJ) Benton of Henrico; and sons, Benny Clary and his wife Kate Clary of Chester, and Kyle Robb and his wife Jaime Robb of New Kent; and seven wonderful grandchildren. Charlie retired from ICI Films as a Mechanical Planner in 1995, honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966, was a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, was a Masonic member of Chester Lodge #94 and was a life member of the Florida Keys Fishing Club. Charlie had a passion of the water and enjoyed staying in the Florida Keys several months each year where he fished, photographed birds and nature. He also had a love of animals and adopted many that made their way into his life. It was his wish for a family only private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA. 23060 or to the Chesterfield Animal Shelter
