Charles Nelson Hunter, age 87, of Chester, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011. He was the son of the late Nelson M. and Lillie Tomlin Hunter. Mr. Hunter was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Johns and son-in-law, Alan Pruett. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Hunter gave 42 years of service as a Game Warden for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, retiring as a Major. He was a past Master A.F.A.M. of Lodge #65, a past worthy Patron of #114 O.E.S., and attended St. Paulâ??s Episcopal Church in Surry, VA. Mr. Hunter is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Evalyn Hunter; daughter, Robin Pruett; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Hunter; sister, Mrs. Dot Britt and husband, Warren; granddaughter, Shawna Mease and husband, Adam; grandson, Jason Pruett; and great-granddaughter, Addison Mease. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with entombment afterwards in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester.
