Charles Leonard Kump

Charles Leonard Kump passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was 98 years old. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Nedvyet Kump; and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mike, Joe, Frank Jr., Karel, Mary Wolf, Ann Kvasnicka and Josephine Vinsh. He is survived by his wife, Barbara H. Kump; sons, Howard and wife, Jolie, and Lee and wife, Wendy; his beloved grandchildren, Camille Kump-Michalek, Claire McCray, Crystal, Elizabeth and Joe Kump; and three cherished great-granddaughters, Savannah Kump, Lucie and Lily McCray. Charlie enlisted and proudly served in the 66th Constabulary Unit in Germany. He was a life member of of VFW Post 2239. He was awarded Legionaire of the year in 2010 as a member of the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights. Mr. Kump had also received special awards from both Posts. He was also a member of the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge. Charlie owned and operated Kump's Garage and Service Station in Petersburg, VA for many years. He retired as Assistant Maintenance Superintendent from Colonial Heights Public Schools. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
