Charles R. (Mac) McMillan lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on August 4th, 2014 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Hensley McMillan and son Tristan Thomas, both of Prince George, Virginia. He was a life-long Christian and member of the Cameron Avenue Church of Christ in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.R. McMillan of Tuscumbia, Alabama and the beloved son-in-law of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hensley of Florence, Alabama. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jane Ellen Brasfield of Florence, Alabama and brother-in-law Grady Hensley of Franklin, Tennessee. Mac served his country proudly in the Army Reserves as an Airborne Rigger in the 883rd airborne Unit for 6 years and in the active U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Division at Fort
McClellan, Alabama, and Karlsruhe Germany. He retired from the Department of the Army in 2006 where he served as division chief, Directorate of Resources and Management, Combined
Arms Support Command at Fort Lee, Virginia. His was a 1972 graduate of the University of North Alabama with a business degree and earned his MBA at Boston University. He leaves behind four special cousins: Barbara Brennan of DeLand, Florida, Linda Sanders of Yorktown, Virginia, Donna Samblanet of Fairfax, Virginia, and Eustis Raines of Jackson, Mississippi.
He would also want to acknowledge three special friends who have loved and supported him since childhood to be acknowledged: Mike Bacon of Killen, Alabama, Dr. Galen Kiser, of Sheffield, Alabama, and Dr. Jody Crumbliss of Abilene, Texas. 'Good night, sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.' All services will be private. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home.
