Charles F. Nowlin, 81, of Disputanta passed away at home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Born on December 12, 1927 in Richmond, he was the son of the late Stephen Wesley and Ethel Morris Nowlin.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Arlene Light Nowlin; a son, Charles Franklin Nowlin, II and wife, Dianne; a daughter, Victoria E. Connelly and husband, Kelly; two step sons, Thomas B. Traylor and wife, Sharon and William E. Traylor and wife, Carol; and also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Tempa E. Nowlin.
He had retired after 39 years as a supply clerk for Hercules of Hopewell and was a US Army Veteran of WWII.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Bermuda Memorial Park in Chester with Rev. Phillip Hauser officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence in Prince George from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Rd. Petersburg, VA 23805 or Rock Church, 2301 County Dr., Petersburg, VA 23803.
