Charles Warrick Robinson, 95, of Hopewell, VA joined the Lord on May 13, 2017. Charlie was born in Warrenton, NC, on October 13, 1921 to the late Lillis Montgomery and James P. Robinson. Charlie was preceded in death by his adored wife of 67 years, Marye Covington Robinson; his son, Charles Jerry; five older brothers; and a younger sister. He is survived by his daughter, Gwendolyn and her husband, Marshall Willard. Charlie served in the Army 1945-47; landing in Nagasaki as peace was declared with Japan. He returned to Richmond, VA to resume work at C+P Telephone Company where he worked for 40 years advancing to management in Hopewell. He was a long standing member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a faithful Christian serving as a Deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Henrico, VA and as an active layman of Wesley United Methodist where he was a member for over 60 years. He loved traveling to visit relatives and enjoyed the thrill of catching a bass fish. Once he retired he gave back to the community by volunteering to install The Lifeline medical alert. Charlie learned to craft beautiful Colonial furniture, clocks, frames and novelties. All of his life he was a gardener, sharing fruits and vegetables with friends and family every year. The family extends special thanks to his devoted caregivers who provided companionship and care for Charlie in his own home where he passed to the Lord. A celebration of his long life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 18 at Wesley Methodist United Church in Hopewell. Viewing and reception will be held at Wesley, 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
