Charles M. Ruxton

Charles M. “Charlie” Ruxton, 87, of S. Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Born in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late George R. and Ruth Wells Ruxton; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ruxton; and three sisters, Mary “Piggie” Shelton, Margaret Lipscomb and Marion Wilson. Charlie was a United State Air Force veteran and was retired from DuPont as an electrician with 42 years of dedicated service. He was a 60-year member of DuPont Lodge No. 289 A.F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master in 1981. He was a long-time member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church in Enon, VA. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elaine P. Ruxton; two children, Tammy Ritenour (Jeff) and Tim Ruxton (Kathy); grandchildren, Christopher Ritenour (Savanna), Chad Ritenour, Stephen Ruxton (Karley) and Nicholas Ruxton (Laura); a great-granddaughter, Arabella Ritenour; a sister, Ruth Boyd; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service with masonic rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, 2025 Florence Ave., Chester, VA 23836, with the Rev. Michael Dettmer, officiating. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice in memory of Charles Ruxton. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his nurses at John Randolph Medical Center.
