Mr. Charles Allen Sadler, 74, a longtime resident of Matoaca, went to be with this Savior Monday, January 31, 2011 following a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Peter David and Mollie Bell Corning Sadler. Charles grew up in Petersburg and retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in Petersburg, VA. He was a member of Matoaca Christian Fellowship. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Claudette Spencer Sadler, a son, Michael Allen Sadler, and grandson Timothy Michael Edmonds. Survivors include his two daughters, Cynthia S. Edmonds of Ford, VA and Catherine S. Sorensen and husband, Harley of Chesterfield; one son, Thomas â?Davidâ? Sadler and wife, Loretta of Matoaca; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nancy James of Colonial Heights, Millie Blackburn of Mechanicsville, Becky Douglas and husband, Alan of Gloucester and Virginia Richardson of Portsmouth; and his loving 4-legged companion â??Puppy Skipâ?. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm on Friday at Matoaca Christian Fellowship, 7700 River Road, Matoaca, VA 23803, with the Pastor Ryan Atchinson officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Matoaca Christian Fellowship Building Fund. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Matoaca Christian Fellowship immediately following the committal service.
