Born August 31, 1928 to Jessie Lee (Reese) and Earnest Manning Sheffield of Ettrick, VA. Charles attended Petersburg High School and The Art Institute of Chicago, where he studied Advertising and Printing Design, earning his diploma in 1952. Charles began his art career at a large advertising firm Cargil, Wilson and Acree in downtown Richmond. Specializing in airbrush retouching of photos for many big business names, they reached much of the east coast of the U.S., such as A.H. Robbins, Phillip Morris, Circuit City and many more.
Charles enjoyed painting, taking photos, repairing "any and everything," drawing house plans, working with wood in his garage workshop and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles was inseparable from his wife of 70 years, Nancy Naedine Sheffield.
Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy Sheffield, 91; son, Barry Sheffield, 61; grandchildren, Christopher Lee Cimburke, Chelsea Nicole Sheffield, Rachel Naedine Sheffield, Corey Madison Sheffield; and 7 great-grandchildren.
