Charles Nelson Sibley, Sr., 74, of Chester, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends Wednesday September 5, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Major John Lewis Sibley, Sr. and wife Marie Hurst Sibley; and sister, Mary Lou S. Geddy. He was the proud owner and operator of Sibley’s BBQ. His passion for football allowed him to play for Thomas Dale High School, Hargrave Military Academy, and advance to the collegiate level as a Center for Virginia Tech University. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth H. Sibley; children, Charles N. Sibley, Jr. and his wife Terri, Michael S. Sibley and his wife Rita, and Blair S. Rogers and her husband Steve; grandchildren, Brittney S. Matthews and her husband John and Joshua C. Sibley; Brandon M. Sibley, Olivia A. Sibley, Kendall B. Rogers, Cody E. Rogers; step-granddaughter, Jessi Pringle and her husband Taylor; great-grandchildren, Gunnar S. Matthews, Holland M. Matthews; step-great-granddaughter, Macy Pringle; brother, John L. Sibley, Sr. and his wife Nita; sister-in-law, Jewell C. Hawkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sibley’s funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday September 10, 2012 at the Chester United Methodist Church 12132 Percival Street Chester, VA 23831. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after services at Sibley’s BBQ for lunch and fellowship.
