Charles William "Bill" Smith, Sr.

Charles W. "Bill" Smith, Sr., 86, of Prince George, VA passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Born in Landisburg, WV he was the son of the late Charles and Edith Smith; and was also preceded in death by a brother, James W. Smith; and a sister, Mary Ellen Withrow. Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, and had a love for nature, especially watching the hummingbirds. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Smith; one son, Charles Smith, Jr. and wife, Diana; a daughter, Denise Saunders; seven grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Helana Smith, Ann Marie Saunders and spouse, Roger Westfall, Rachel Saunders, Carrie Underwood, Stephanie Morrissette and spouse, David, Kristy Riddle and spouse, Stephen; and eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
