Charles Jeffrey Sweat

Charles Jeffrey Sweat, 58, of Matoaca, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert David and Dorothy Louise Dilday Sweat, and his son, William Robert Sweat. Jeff retired from Philip Morris after 31 years of service and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Hopewell. He was an active member and currently serving as 2nd Lieutenant Commander of Dearing-Beauregard Camp #1813, Sons of Confederate Veterans, an associate member of Dinwiddie Grays Camp #2220, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of the 4th Platoon of the Mechanized Calvary. Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda Wood Sweat; his darling daughter, Tiffany D. Ashton and her husband, Timothy; his wonderful grandchildren, Makayla Grace Ashton and Gunner James Ashton; brothers, Robert D. Sweat, Jr. and his wife, Darlene, and Kenneth W. Sweat and his wife, Dee; a niece, Samantha Marie Sweat; nephews, Robert David Sweat, III and wife, Sara, Christopher Ryan Sweat and wife, Diana, Jesse Arsenault and wife, Natalie, and Dustin Arsenault, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
