Charles Voda
Our beloved “Uncle Charlie” passed away on May 29, 2021. He was the last living child of Jacob and Frances Voda who came to Prince George County in 1910. One of eleven children, he was raised on the family farm during the roaring twenties and depression thirties. He was a veteran of WW II and returned home to work for Allied Chemical. A lifelong bachelor, he will always be remembered as “Uncle Charlie” to three generation of nephews and nieces. In the summer you could find him sitting under the fan in his carport listening to sports and news on the radio. Chairs were ready nearby for friends and relatives to stop by and chat. Everyone was welcome, he loved the company. In the winter you could get a warm seat beside his woodstove in the basement or play a game of pool and enjoy his company for hours. Many of us did. He was that kind of a guy. Now he is home in heaven with his parents and brothers and sisters; Dick, Mildred, Tilly, Libby, Mary , Andy, Ben, Walter, Ernest and Jerry. He was everybody’s friend and we will all miss him. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince George Volunteer Fire Department. The family is being served by J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home of Hopewell VA.
