Charles Thurston McKenney "Pookie", 73, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on February 6, 2023, with family by his side. He was born on September 14, 1949, to Everette and Elizabeth McKenney in Petersburg, VA.
Pookie is survived by his wife, Sheila McKenney; son, Jeffrey McKenney (Melissa); daughter, Tracy Cherrix (Dwight); stepchildren, LeAndra Mathison (Robbie) and Christopher Crump; grandchildren, Dylan McKenney, Corbin McKenney, Kinsley McKenney, Gavin McKenney, and Austin Cherrix; step granddaughter, Hailey Carnes; brothers, Danny McKenney (Pam), and John McKenney (Phyllis); nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, William McKenney; and son, Eric McKenney.
Anyone that knew Pookie knows that he loved hunting, fishing, and fast cars (especially mustangs!). He will truly be missed by many ♥
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity or organization of your choice.
