Charlotte Marie Joyner Dabney, of Amelia, VA, went home with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born November 21, 1932, in Matoaca, VA, the second child of Vivian C. Sr. and Mary Susie Bowman Joyner. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl while attending Gospel Hall in Matoaca. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 42 years, John D. Dabney; her only son, Charles L. Moore, Jr.; her middle daughter, Brenda C. Hubbard; her beloved son-in-law, Benny L. Goins; her one and only daughter-in-law, Pamela M. Moore; and her two sisters, Mary J. Thornhill and Barbara J. Pohlig. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughters, the oldest daughter, Constance M. Cleaton (Raymond) and her baby daughter, Charlotte Dabney Goins; also her "Bud", Brian Cole; "black-sheep" daughter, Betty Saye; her grandchildren, Paul Cleaton (Melissa), Joshua Moore (Dana), Kimberly Love, Shana Cleaton, and John Moore (Dara); as well as, Aaron Swain and Andrew Goins; and her much loved great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jackson, and Brody Cleaton, Payton and Ella Moore, Justin Love, Ryan and Zayden Cooper, and Landon and Avery Moore. Additionally, she is survived by her three brothers, Clarence Jr., Wilbur, and Ernest (Ping) Joyner; her treasured best friend forever, Nan Weaver; her dearly loved "boyfriend", Steve Kane; and numerous nieces and nephews, including both great and great-greats, especially her favorite great-great nephew, Cole.
She loved her Lord and spent many hours reading His word and praying. She loved gospel music especially when Aaron sang. She was the kind of person that never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. If you were fortunate to know her, you loved her. She was a spicy, little spitfire who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling with her children on the family vacations, and she loved all of the adventures she went on with her baby girl. Chances are if you saw her, you saw Charlotte too. She created lifelong friendships with many special people she met along life's journey, including, Kelsey Martin, Brenda Walker, Mary Williams, Michael Thorpe, Linda Weaver, Robin Lazaration, Angie Watson, and the family of Nan Weaver.
One of her greatest accomplishments that she never truly realized was the impact she made in the lives of her nieces and the neighborhood kids that she would load up in her old Rambler station wagon and carry to church every Sunday. She taught them about Jesus and influenced their lives and their faith today by that simple act.
