Mrs. Cheryl Hale Kanak, 53, of Ruffin Road, Prince George County, died Saturday, March 20, 2004 ;in Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. She was born in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and was a Prince George County resident most of her lifetime. Mrs. Kanak was a graduate of VCU, a former teacher with the Prince George County School System, and a lover of flowers and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth “Betzie” Everett Hale; and a brother, Gary Earl Hale. Surviving are her husband, Ben P. Kanak of Prince George; her father, Earl Haywood Hale, Jr. and wife, Patricia of Prince George; two sisters, Marilyn E. Turgeon of Raleigh, N.C. and Melissa-Beth Gates and husband, Andy of Petersburg, a brother, Bradford B. Hale and wife, Anne of Petersburg; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Kanak and wife, Lonie of Richmond. The family will receive friends Monday evening, March 22, 2004, from 7 to 8:30PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Lamb, pastor of Walmsley United Methodist Church, officiating.
