Christa Maria Cooper (Age 87)
Passed away peacefully on September 1, 2011. Christa was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1955 where she met her future husband and lovingly raised a family of three children. She is survived by all of them: Dennis J. Cooper of Chantilly, Virginia, Michael N. Cooper of Tampa, Florida, and Cristina M. Clark of Chester, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Claude J. Cooper and her brother Heinz Tueber. She adored her 6 grandchildren Adam, Ashlee, Jaclyn, Ryan, David, Tayler and Riley. She is also survived by her loyal canine companion Frederick. She always said when she married Claude; she also married his cocker spaniel, Pee Wee. She never stopped loving the breed. During their first 12 years of marriage, Christa and Claude lived in 7 different states finally settling in Virginia. Christa was educated in Germany to be a medical technologist and continued working in this field in the U.S. In Virginia, she worked as a Medical Technologist at the Medical College of Virginia for 19 years. She loved America and continually expressed appreciation for the opportunities it had given her. Christa was a very talented seamstress, knitter and quilter. In latter years, she handcrafted beautiful quilts for all her grandchildren and even in her eighties continued to crochet for charity, making hats for newborn babies. A Mass will be held at St. Anneâ??s Catholic Church, in Colonial Heights, Virginia at 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 with a visitation to be held one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Dale Memorial Cemetery immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Annâ??s Catholic Church.
