Christopher Brian Carroll, 35, of Carson, VA, formerly of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Emerick and Maurice Cripe; as well as his uncle, Terry Emerick; and best friend, Tony Williams. Chris was a true hero, serving his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and served active duty in Afghanistan. More than anything, Chris was a loving husband and father. He met his wife, Elizabeth, through Elizabeth's brother, Ben, when both men were attending lineman school, with Dominion Power. Everything he did was for the benefit of his wife and son. He always put them first. Chris most recently worked for Ferrell Gas, as a propane delivery driver. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Carroll; beautiful son, Rory Carroll; rescue fur son, Gary; father, Larry Emerick; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Kristen Duncan; siblings, Rick Cripe (Maranatha), Morse Hames (Emily), Shalet Carroll, and Gabe Emerick; nephews, Brian Smith, Bostyn Cripe, Preston and Ryker Emerick, Coy and Owen Duncan; nieces, Morgan Cripe and Jaden Evans; brother-in-law, Ben Duncan (Sarah); grandmothers, Betty Emerick and Marjorie Cripe; grandmother-in-law, Patricia "Oma" Shelor; and numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Petersburg Chapel, 103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 4:00pm-6:00pm, where a funeral will be held the following day, at 1:00pm, in the chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at Southlawn Memorial Park.
