Clarence L. Melton, 83, of Disputanta, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee W. and Mary Smith Melton, wife Frances Merten Melton, a brother Robert Melton, five sisters Ruth Scearcey, Ethel Robinson, Bessie Huskins, Frances Bowers, and Sybil Elmore. He was born September 4, 1929 in Buncombe County, North Carolina raised by Minnie and Willis Philbeck. He had made his home in Virginia since 1946 when he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Camp Lee. He was the Owner/Operator of Melton’s Auto Sales and Service and Camper Sales and Service. Melton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by a daughter, Mary M. Williams and husband, Charles E.; one granddaughter, Pamela W. Crabtree and husband, Bryan; one great-granddaughter, Samantha F. Crabtree; many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Smith Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Wednesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Condolences may be registered at
