Claudine Nettie Taylor

Claudine French Taylor went home to be with her Lord on Tues., Dec. 29, 2015. She was born in Newton County, Mississippi on August 3, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Irvie Welsh French. Claudine is also preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Taylor; her siblings, Ernest French, Carrie Shealy, Luther French, Lorena Gill, Avis Sessums, Christine Fisher, Gleason French, and Virginia Cappiali. She is survived by her sons, James Taylor (Anne), Richard Taylor (Jenny Goedhart), Raymond Taylor (Pam); sister Juanita Brewer, sister in law Annie Laura McKennon, and former daughter in law Mary Miller (Peter). Claudine was Mema to Kim Harrison (CJ), John Mark Taylor (Kristen), Allison Taylor (Fiancé Eric Kittleson), Lauren Taylor, Amy Mikos (Dave), and Debbie Hunter. Her great grandchildren also called her Mema and they are, Amber Temple (Michael), Tucker Majetic, Makenna and Brooke Harrison, Danielle McCabe, Brittany Sturkey, Bailey Mikos and Garrett Mikos. Peyton and Christopher Temple are her great, great grandchildren. Claudine married young on the fourth of July in l942 and became an army wife. They lived in Germany with their young son and enjoyed driving throughout Europe. Driving was a passion of hers. She also enjoyed driving to Mississippi to visit family. After being stationed at what was then Camp Lee, the family settled in Hopewell. Claudine loved her work at Thalhimers Department Store and enjoyed teaching proper skin care. She had other passions including gardening and baking. Claudine was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell. She loved the Lord and in her later days was often heard talking to God about her love for Him and her need for Him to help her. She was ready to see Jesus. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T Morriss & Sons Funeral Home 820 West Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2901 Norfolk St., Hopewell, VA 23860. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
