Clifford David Irvin, Jr.

Clifford David Irvin, Jr., 56, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023, at his home in Hopewell, VA. The son of Clifford David Irvin, Sr. and Sue Ellen Rasmussen Hudson; he was the loving husband of Noelle Lynn-DeRuiter Irvin; and the father of Isaac Wesley Irvin, 10. He is also survived by sisters, Cathleen Davies (Paul), Melanie Irvin Mims (Patrick), and Amanda Irvin Anderson (David); brother, Justin Hudson; grandmother, Mildred Galante; uncles, Arthur Irvin (Debbie) and Donny Irvin; aunts, Judy Irvin, Barbara Cofield, and Joyce Asycue; nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends, especially Charles Rudolph and David Cornell. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and June Irvin; grandfather, Frank Galante; stepmother, Susan Hefele-Irvin; stepfather, Robert Hudson; and stepbrother, SSG Michael Back (Melissa). A childhood resident of Enon, Virginia, he was a 1985 graduate of Thomas Dale High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Old Dominion University in 2019. He worked as an HVAC technician at Fort Gregg-Adams for 15 years, and served as the Executive Vice President of the Transport Workers Union Local 527. He also owned a contracting company, Irvin Mechanical. David was an avid reader and was a clutch trivia partner, who knew a little (or a lot) about just about every subject. For years, he enjoyed whitewater kayaking and hunting, he was a model train lover, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchants Hope Road, North Prince George. The family will receive friends at Powers Memorial Baptist Church, 2807 Jackson Street, Hopewell, immediately following burial.
