Clyde Thomas Yandle (90) of Petersburg, VA passed from this life to life eternal on August 7, 2013. Born in Charlotte, NC, Mr. Yandle was the son of Crawford P. and Grace Pope Yandle. His career as a civil servant spanned 30 years, retiring in 1980 as Chief of Management Analysis Division and Deputy Comptroller at Headquarters Fort Lee. He was the recipient of many awards during his career, including the Commander's Award for Outstanding Service, the highest civil service award. His community service included memberships in the Petersburg Jaycees, the Petersburg Lions Club, and the Petersburg Cosmopolitan Club where he also served as Lt. Governor for the Capital District. Mr. Yandle served as a member of the Petersburg School Board from 1981-1990. A faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Petersburg for 65 years, Mr. Yandle served in many capacities on the Administrative Board. Mr. Yandle also served many terms on the Board of the Country Club of Petersburg. Mr. Yandle was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Elizabeth Catterton, and is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Jane Hess Yandle, and two sons: Stephen Thomas Yandle (Martha Anne) of Shenzhen, China and David Kent Yandle (Barbara) of Chester, VA. In addition, he leaves two grandsons to cherish his memory: David Wesley Yandle (Allison) of Powhatan, VA and Brandon Colin Yandle (Jessica) of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by one great-grandson: Harper Kent Yandle of Powhatan, VA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, VA on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00am. The family will receive visitors at the church before the service, beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be private at Southlawn Cemetery, Prince George County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Crater Community Hospice, 3916. S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805 or Trinity United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights for their dedicated care and attention to Mr. Yandle during his final years.
