C. N. â??Budâ? Wamsley, Sr., 77, of Colonial Heights, VA and Surf City, NC passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. â??PePaâ? Wamsley, Sr. and his son, Robert E. â??Binkyâ? Wamsley. Bud was a life long member of Ettrick United Methodist Church who remained strong in his faith throughout his life. He was a man of many interests who enjoyed hobbies such as driving a modified stock car and becoming a pilot. Bud was the co-owner of H.E. Wamsley Trucking Company. After retirement, he was involved in many business interests in both Virginia and North Carolina. He owned and operated furniture stores, motels and convenience stores at various times. Bud was often described by those who knew and loved him as â??larger than lifeâ?, and he certainly enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Gail P. Wamsley; children, Joy W. Moore (Mike), C. Neil Wamsley, Jr. (Debbie), Kathy Rogers (Bobby) and Steven Ashburn (Maria); mother, Alma P. Wamsley; grandchildren, Michael J. Moore, Jr., Matthew Rogers, Jenna W. Wimmer, Rebecca M. McNew, Timothy Wamsley, Paige Rogers, Christopher W. Moore, David Wamsley and Tessa Wamsley; three great grandchildren; brother, Howard E. Wamsley , Jr.; sister, Nancy W. Chadwick and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
