Col W. Allen

COL Robert Wallace Allen, U. S. Army (Retired), 88, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. Bob was born on 8 February 1923 in Zanesville, Ohio to William S. and Marquita Allen. Bob received an appointment from the 21st Congressional District in New York and entered West Point 1 July 1943 with the Class of 1946. He later attended Harvard University and graduated with an MBA. Bob retired at Fort Lee, VA on 31 July 1976. He continued to work for the government as a training officer in the Army Logistics Center at Fort Lee. He worked as a civilian until February 1985 when he completely retired. During retirement Bob was active as a member of the Prince George Lions Club and as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. and Marquita Allen; his wife, Jean Brennan Allen; his son-in-law, Joseph F. Ciampa and granddaughter, Kelly Jean Allen. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Allen Ciampa of Jacksonville, NC and his son, John E. Allen of Palm Coast, FL. He is also survived by his grandsons, Joseph F. Ciampa, Jr., Robert Angelo Ciampa and Michael James Ciampa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22nd at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Petersburg.
