Constance Gail Barnes

Constance Gail Barnes, 69, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard C. Moore and Mary Z. Moore; and brother-in-law, Gregory Barnes. Constance graduated from Hopewell High School with the class of 1973. Constance held several positions throughout her career starting at the Defense General Supply Center and ending as an administrative assistant at the Department of Public Works, Ft. Lee, VA. After retirement, she continued to work part time for Hopewell Social Services. Constance loved going to the beach and laying in the sun. She also loved animals. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stephen H. Barnes, Sr.; daughter, Natasha E. Moore (Mike); son, Stephen H. Barnes, Jr.; granddaughter, Lindsay D. Faucette; grandson, Stephen Leonard Barnes; sister, Diana L. Moore; brother, Richard C. Moore, Jr.; brother-in-law, Michael Barnes (Darlene); and her beloved dogs, Star and Skippy. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Elpis Orthodox Church.
