Constance Todd Brown, 93, of Petersburg, passed away on November 21, 2013, following a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Algernon H. and Annie L. McKenzie Todd; and was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Brown; and her sister, Ann T. Jordan. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Petersburg, VA, where she served on the Altar Guild and as a member of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW). She always took great pride and joy in helping to decorate the altar at St. Stephen’s with Poinsettias, cedar garlands and magnolia leaves for the Christmas Eve Services, Easter Lilies for Easter Sunday, and with great care she would help set the altar for Sunday church services. She will also be fondly remembered for her stylish wardrobe and her Pink Christmas trees that adorned her home during the Christmas holidays. While she and her husband, Bill, had no children, they enjoyed being the parents of their four-legged child, Fluffy, the cat.
Connie is survived by her niece, Betty Ann Jordan, St. Albans, NY; cousins, Cynthia Simmons, Uniondale, NY, Ruth M. Hairston, Petersburg, VA, Ann Ellison, Jacksonville, FL; her husband’s nephew, Wadesworth Brown, Jr.,(Jacqueline), Columbia, SC; and good friends, Nancy S. Ross, Kenneth W. Lewis, Dorothy Caperton, Jackie C. Short and Bill and Iris Brown, also from the Petersburg area. There are other friends, neighbors and church members who will cherish her memory as well.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013, in the Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA, the burial site located near the intersection of A.P. Hill Avenue and Arch Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Building Fund, in memory of Mrs. Constance T. Brown. Condolences may be registered at
