Constantinos S. Demetriades (Kosta, Gus) age 84, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014. He was born in Kilkis, Thessaloniki, Greece, on October 2, 1929 and graduated from high school in Volos, Greece. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Greek Army and an instructor at the Artillery School in Megalo Pefko which is close to Athens. After leaving the army, he worked at the National Bank of Greece until he immigrated to the United States in 1955. His uncle and aunt, Theodore and Aspasia Pappas, were his sponsors. He was a partner with his uncle Theodore, running the A & B Restaurant in Petersburg until 1969. Soon after, in the seventies, he retired from the restaurant business and became involved with investments. He as a member of St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church, Hopewell, VA, served and did volunteer work at the church, including being treasusrer and auditor several times. His survivors include his first cousin, Effie Pappas of Petersburg, and two nephews, Stavros and Prodromos Demetriades of Thessaloniki, Greece. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church followed by interment at Blandford Cemetery.
