Coy L. Rhodes, 85, of Prince George, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his residence. Born in Clio, WV, he was the son of the late Otto M. and Gertie Maye Jett Rhodes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Thompson Hubbard of Oklahoma. Mr. Rhodes retired in April, 1992 as an Area Superintendent after more than 37 years of service with the Columbia Gas System. He also served Prince George County for 15 years as a volunteer firefighter with Company 1. Coy was a lifelong devoted member of Crowder Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Treasurer for more than 30 years. He was also a member of the Gibbs Memorial Sunday School Class. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Rhodes; daughters, Judith Harrington (Billy Edmonds) and Rebecca Childers (Wayne); granddaughters, Rachel Harrington of Florida and Jackie Childers of Virginia; sisters, Maryann Lowery of Texas, Betty Belcher (Perk) of Oklahoma, Janet Holbert (Richard) of Ohio, June McCune (Jack) of West Virginia, and Barbara Kessinger (Donald) of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Brenda Seabolt (Ronnie) of West Virginia; brother-in-law, Richard Johnson (Joyce) of West Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. The family wished to offer sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Crater Community Hospice and special care giver, Pam Law. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Mike Murray and Mr. Glenn Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
