Cynthia "Cindy" Mae Gibbs Barfield, of Chester, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was the daughter of the late James and Joyce Gibbs; and was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Fred Essig.
Cindy completed high school and took a few classes at John Tyler Community College. She went on to work in food service and retired from a management position. She loved cooking, and music, and attending concerts. She took pleasure in simple things like walking, and driving, and loved every season, and the new weather it brought. She had a fun streak that came out at Halloween, where she enjoyed dressing up for parties. She was an avid shopper and loved shoes and clothes, so much so, that she had Imelda Marcos beat for shoes! Cindy loved cats, and would take care of any that she found or were dropped off. She also enjoyed gardening and was very proud and generous with the results of her labor of love. She often told her Robert that she 'loved their farm'.
Cindy was a loving wife and step-mother, and a wonderful aunt who always tried to attend all the family events.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Robert Barfield; sister, Sandra Simpson; brother, Jay Gibbs; step-son, Adam Barfield; her favorite cat, Ray; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 3, 2024, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Cindy's memory to West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, North Dinwiddie, VA 23803.
