Daisy Phillips Himes, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles G. Himes and infant son Charles D. Himes. She was the daughter of Samuel A. and Carrie Brooks Phillips and was raised in the Blackstone and Kenbridge areas of Virginia. She is survived by her three children, William R. Himes and wife Liz, Laura H. Herring and husband Larry of Oneonta, NY, and Brenda H. Perkins and husband Claude; five grandchildren, Lori Lawson and husband Dennis, Duane Herring, Marie Crandall and husband Kris, Russell Himes, Matthew Himes; one sister, Christine Jaucik; and one brother, Kenneth Phillips. Daisy was a devout member of Chester Baptist Church and served as a deaconess, and was also the leader of the AARP Chester Widowed Persons Group in the â??green houseâ? at the church. Daisy and her family lived in many different areas of the U.S. building hydro-electric power projects. They lived North to Maine, West to Montana, East to North Carolina and South to Tennessee. Most of their time was spent in many locations in New York State building the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Niagara Power System. Daisy was a devoted wife and mother and ran her household as a Christian home. She was loved by all who knew her and leaves behind many that will miss her. The family will receive visitors from 3 to 4 pm and again from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, October 12th at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with funeral services to follow on Thursday, October 13th at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
