Daniel Scott Dunbar

Daniel Scott Dunbar (Danny), 42, of Mechanicsville passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Memorial Regional Hospital of Hanover following an extended illness. He left behind his parents, Cecil and Debra Dunbar of Chester; brothers, Andrew (Terri) of Disputanta, and Tim Dunbar of Manchester, England; niece, Lindsey Dunbar; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lonnie and Avis Dunbar of Chester and James and Rosalie Maggard of Hopewell, and his Uncle Danny Maggard also of Hopewell.

Danny was born in Hopewell and graduated from Broadway Christian School. He was employed as a project manager at Scaffolding Solutions of Richmond for over ten years, a job he loved and was devoted to until days before his passing.

Danny loved his family, many friends, dogs, Jackson, Layla, and Jasper, the Boston Red Sox, the Colts, and Virginia Tech.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 820 W. Broadway Ave. Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jerry Davis, will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel with internment immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester.

Special appreciation is extended to the CCU doctors, nurses, and hospice staff of Memorial Regional Medical Center of Mechanicsville who graciously cared for him in his final days.
