Daniel Victor Tomko, Sr., 85, of Prince George County, VA, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Tomko was born in Prince George County and had been a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late John Tomko, Sr. and Annie Varga Tomko. Mr. Tomko was a charter member of the Prince George Emergency Crew and also served as their Captain. He coached various recreation baseball teams, was an active member of Bethlehem Congregational Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and teacher. Mr. Tomko retired as a storeroom clerk for Hercules, Inc. after 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Vera Virginia Tomko of Prince George, three daughters, Evelyn T. Talbott and her husband Richard of Nags Head, NC, Mary Ann T. Preskar and her husband Robert, Dorothy T. Hines and her husband Jerry, all of Prince George, a son, Daniel V. Tomko, Jr. and his wife Vicki, also of Prince George, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.Dr. Jeri Posey, retired pastor of Bethlehem Congregational Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Congregational Christian Church Cemetery, Prince George County.
