Daphne Pate Andrews, 88, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, VA. She was the daughter of the late Rennie and Gertrude Smith. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and a graduate of Petersburg High School. Daphne loved lifeâ??s simple pleasures especially her husband of 58 years, her children, grandchildren and a great grandchild. Daphne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Erin Webster Andrews and her brother, Emmett Mosley Pate. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Keith Erin Andrews and his wife Sarajayne, Donna Andrews Eure and her husband Raeford and Sharon Andrews McClellan and her husband Jay. Left also with the beautiful memory of their grandmother are five grandchildren; Erin Teale Simmons, A. Leland Simmons, Jr. and his wife Maggie of Virginia Beach, Joy Erin Andrews of Columbus, GA, Courtney Dodge McClellan, Whitney Andrews McClellan, both of Prince George, her great-grandchild, Cameron Webster Simmons of Virginia Beach and her nephew, Emmett Mosely Pate, Jr. also of Virginia Beach. The family would like to acknowledge with great appreciation, the love and care given by her best friends, Ann T. Parrish and Arline S. McClellan during this difficult journey with Alzheimerâ??s. We also will be forever grateful to the dedicated nurses and staff at Dunlop House who made her stay as enriching and comfortable as possible. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
