Dares Georahan, 77, of Hopewell and Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on March 5, 2025. Born and raised in Khorat, Thailand, Dares immigrated to Virginia in 1973, making the City of Hopewell her home until relocating to Colonial Heights in 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and devoted herself to her family. Dares is survived by her life partner, George Martin, 94; son, Chai "Johnny", 55; daughter-in-law, Stefanie; two grandchildren, Lance and Emily, 18 and 15, respectively; and her sister-in-law, Sandra Noble. She was a lifelong chef specializing in Thai cuisine, the food she grew up on and would later share with her family and friends; this was her way of life, and sharing her talent with her family and friends was one of her deepest expressions of her love for them. Dares also worked as a waitress at Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights from the moment it opened as Morrison's Cafeteria and closed as Piccadilly's Cafeteria, spanning nearly 30 years. Her travels brought her to noteworthy locations like Moundsville, West Virginia; Tampa, Florida; and, Paris, France. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and knitting, and loved gardening, growing many plants including hot Thai chili peppers, persimmons, watermelons, pumpkins, strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, and all manner of colorful flowers that blossom throughout the year. Her gardens attracted beautiful hummingbirds, just as her laughter and smiles would brighten and enriched the world around her. There will be a celebration of life at her favorite restaurant, Kacha Thai, located at 5230 Oaklawn Blvd (The Crossings Shopping Center) in Hopewell/North Prince George at a date to be determined.
