Darlene Hedgepeth Dunbar

Darlene Hedgepeth Dunbar (Sue), 67, of Hopewell, VA gained her wings on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Born in Hopewell, VA, she was the oldest of 3 and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willie J. Dunbar, Jr. (Jimmy) and her parents, Julian and Cornelia Hedgepeth. Sue retired from the City of Hopewell after being a devoted Special Ed bus driver for numerous years. She is survived by two daughters, Tracy Hansley and Rebecca Dunbar; five grandchildren, Nick-Nick Dunbar, MeMe Dunbar, Jamiya Holloway, Mia Carpenter, and Cam Carpenter; five great-grandchildren, Iyannah, Julianna (Ashleigh), Ky’rhi (Quan), Cartiel (Kamonte) and Sophiyah (Lateefah); two sisters, Debbie Hedgepeth and Ann Edwards, and a host of nieces, nephews and others who adopted her as Grandma. She also leaves to cherish three devoted friends, Barbara Collins, Edi Holsopple and Linda Vandelle. A visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Appomattox Cemetery, 703 N 21st Avenue Hopewell, VA 23860, on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
