Darrell Clarence Cherny

Darrell Clarence Cherny, 68, of Chester, VA passed away, Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Born in Beatrice, Nebraska he was the son of the late Clarence L. Cherny and Lena Hobbs Cherny; also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberlie Melson. He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Sandra K. Cherny; daughter, Tressa Melson and husband, Kennith; son, Anthony “Tony” Cherny and wife, Tracey; grandchildren, Kelsie Melson, Jacob Melson and Loralai Cherny; brother, Robert Cherny and wife, Rebecca; niece, Sarah Cherny; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Mr. Cherny attended Kearney State College where he met his wife, Sandra and was married in January 1970. Darrell was an Eagle Scout working with various scouting troops. He was a current member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Va. He worked for East Coast Petroleum and retired from Baird Petroleum Construction. The family will receive friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at the funeral home.
