David Abrams, Sr., a proud Vietnam Veteran, passed away on January 14, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born on July 10, 1947, in Caserta, Italy, he was the eldest son of Lester Abrams and Maria Teresa Figliomeni Abrams.
Retired Chief Warrant Officer (3), David was not a man of few words, nor would a few words describe his life or his many accomplishments. He was a true American hero who dedicated his life to his family, his community, and our great country. His service included 20 years in the military where he served as a Special Agent in the Army's famed Criminal Investigative Division (CID). After his military retirement, he served as a Special Investigator for the Virginia Bar Association. After 40 years of combined government service, he enjoyed many things, including traveling, flying, and wine to name just a few.
He enjoyed spending time with his six beloved grandchildren and meeting his first great-grandchild this past August. It was a moment he truly cherished. Spending time with his family and friends is something he treasured above all else.
David is survived by his three children, David (JR), of Colonial Heights, VA, Iris Neeson and her wife, Dana, of Poteau, OK, and Patience Butters and her husband, Bill, of Chester, VA; and their mother, Deborrah Abrams, of Poteau, OK; and his sweet pup, Lady, who he saved from a busy highway on a rainy night. His three siblings, Carmen Shawver and her husband, Steve, Vincent Abrams and his life partner, Rhonda Sartor, and Frances Lare and her husband, Nelson (deceased); and his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by six grandchildren, Mechelle, Deborah, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Ryan, and Easton; and one great-grandchild, Julian. Finally, his life partner of 10 years, and best friend of more than 15 years, Debra Hay-Pierce.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Maria; his brother, Baker; and sister, Molly Shaud.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.
