David Brinkley

David G. Brinkley, 60, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, following a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born and raised in Petersburg, VA but had made Nags Head his home for the last forty years. David was a graduate of Tidewater Academy and attended Richard Bland College. David was privileged and lucky to have a wonderful circle of devoted friends in both North Carolina and Virginia. Fishing was his favorite pastime and in his earlier years loved to surf. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Preston and Anne D. Brinkley. David is survived by his daughter, Whitney Brinkley; a grandson, Mason Buell; two sisters, Anne B. Ragsdale (Dane) and Carolyne B. Herring (Charlie); and a brother, H. Kemper Brinkley (BG). The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
