David Weaver Cook

August 8, 1924 — December 17, 2016

David Weaver Cook, 92, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016. He was the son of the late Albert Cook and Lessie Miller Cook. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cook. David served in the United States Army during WWII where he helped build the China-Burma Line. He was employed with Hercules retiring after 42 years of service. He was a proud ichthyologist, gemologist, and taxidermist. He loved his garden. David enjoyed photography and his work was displayed in the Smithsonian Museum. His true passion was geology and he loved his rocks. He was a true “rock hound”. David is survived by his brother, Raymond Cook; niece, Pat Brackett (Charles); nephew, Ray Cook (Judy); life-long friend, Toni Bucciarelli; and numerous other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
