David Brian Cummings, 51 of Disputanta, VA passed away on Monday June 5, 2017. Brian was born on February 24th 1966 in Newport News VA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Wise Cummings. Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Shannon Cummings; his six children, Annelise, Ainsley and Avery, Cody, Parker and Hunter; his father, Bob Cummings Sr.; his twin brothers, Bob and Bill Cummings; father in law, Carlos Secrist (Debbie); mother in law, Donna Secrist, (Joe Winner); eight nieces and nephews; his former spouse Elizabeth; and other extended family and friends. Brian graduated from Weston High School in Weston CT in 1984, and attended Randolph Macon College where he earned his BA in 1988, Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned his Master’s in Criminal Law, and University of Richmond Law School where he earned his JD. Brian chose to pursue his lifelong passion for justice as a senior administrative executive in the City of Richmond Police Department. Brian served in the department for over 20 years, where he was recognized as employee of the year, became the head administrator. Brian will be missed and remembered by all of his friends in the community and across the country, his extended family, and his many good colleagues in the City of Richmond and the police department. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday June 12th at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 505 Cedar Lane, Hopewell, VA.
